Devotional: Render to God the Things that are God’s

"Is it lawful for us to give tribute to Caesar, or not?" But he perceived their craftiness, and said to them, "Show me a denarius. Whose likeness and inscription does it have?" They said, "Caesar's." He said to them, "Then render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's.""
‭‭Luke‬ ‭20:22-25‬ ‭ESV‬‬

"So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them."
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭1:27‬ ‭ESV‬‬

I was listening to a commentary on Luke 20:25 (above).  I found it interesting that since Ceasar's image was on the coin, Jesus told them to give it to Caesar in tribute, but then He follows up by telling them to give to God what is God's.  Of course, I was only thinking in terms of the tithe.

The speaker brought it home when he referenced Genesis 1:27 where it says God created man in his own image.  Ceasar's image was on the coin, therefore give to Caesar what is his.  But God's image is imprinted on man, therefore we are to give ourselves to God.

It's simple but profound and I never thought of it in this way before, but it makes sense.
