Marsha's Musings: Praise Be to Jesus Christ for Who He Is! (Hebrews 13:8 NKJV)

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. (Hebrews 13:8 NKJV)

Jesus is the same yesterday.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. (John 1:1-3 NKJV)

Jesus is the same today.

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. John bore witness of Him and cried out, saying, “This was He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me is preferred before me, for He was before me.’ ” And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace. For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him. (John 1:12-18 NKJV)

Jesus is the same forever.

John, to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace to you and peace from Him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven Spirits who are before His throne, and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen. “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” (Revelation 1:4-8 NKJV)

One good Bible study habit is to compare Scripture with Scripture.  When I first looked at this verse in Hebrews, I wondered what exactly it meant.  Comparing Scripture with Scripture, has brought out the meaning more clearly.

Jesus is the Word.
Jesus was with God in the beginning.
Jesus was God.
Jesus created the world.
Those who receive Jesus, He gives the right to become children of God.
Believing on His name is not accomplished by whose family you are born into, nor is it accomplished by man's will, but only by God's will.
Jesus became flesh and dwelt among men on earth.
Jesus brought grace and truth.
Jesus is the only begotten son of God the Father.
Jesus has declared Him.
No man has seen God the Father.
God is and was and is to come.
Jesus Christ is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, the ruler over the kings of the earth.
Jesus loved us.
Jesus washed us from our sins in His own blood.
Jesus made us kings and priests to God the Father
He deserves all glory and dominion forever.
Jesus is coming with clouds.
Jesus will be seen by every person, even those who killed him.
Jesus will cause mourning among all tribes of the earth.
Jesus is the Alpha and the Omegs, Beginning and the End.
Jesus is and was and is to come.
Jesus is the Almighty.

This list is not exhaustive.  It's only what I gleaned from these verses!  A study of the Bible will show a whole lot more!  Wow, we have a great Saviour!  Praise be to Him for all that He is!
