Marsha's Musings: Coveteousness and Contentment (Hebrews 13:5, 6 NKJV)

Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we may boldly say: “The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” (Hebrews 13:5, 6 NKJV)

The basic idea here is don't be looking at what others have that you don't and wishing you had what they have. It could also be applied to looking at things in the store or on the internet and wishing you could have those.  I believe it could be applied to circumstances as well.  It's that feeling that the grass is always greener in someone else's back yard and you feel somehow, just a bit cheated with the cards God has delt you. It is summed up with the word discontentment.

God say He will never leave us or forsake us.  We have everything we need when we have Him. When we are discontent it is the same as saying that He is not enough and that we need more than what He gives us and more than Him.

Wow. Pointed thoughts. Kind of hurts because it is is convicting!
