Marsha's Musings: Jesus Deserves More Glory (Hebrews 3:3-6 ESV)

For Jesus has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses—as much more glory as the builder of a house has more honor than the house itself. (For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God.) Now Moses was faithful in all God’s house as a servant, to testify to the things that were to be spoken later, but Christ is faithful over God’s house as a son. And we are his house if indeed we hold fast our confidence and our boasting in our hope. (Hebrews 3:3-6 ESV)

Key thoughts:
1. Jesus deserves more glory than men.

There are many ministries and churches where men get the glory and Jesus gets a passing glance.  Some give glory to the founder of their church and even sing hymns in honor of them instead of in honor of Jesus.  Those who are part of this church will know what church I'm talking about when they read this.

2. Jesus is building His house (church).

Jesus is the One who builds His Church.  He is the founder of the true Church.  No else should get that glory and no one else should attempt to take that glory.

3. We are the house Jesus is building.

Those the Father has given the Son are the house that Jesus is building.  God adds the members to the house. We are commanded to go out and make disciples and bid people to come to Christ, but God is the one who builds the house.  We don't.

4. We need to hold fast to our hope!

Our hope is in our Founder and Builder of the house, which is the church~God's people.  It's a sure hope, not an I hope so hope.  Jesus is the center of it all.  Any church or ministry  that relegates Jesus to the background and places someone else in the place of glory is a false church and ministry.  Jesus is our Hope.  He should be in the place of prominent glory within churches.
