Marsha Musings: Will We Stand Firm in the Face of Persecution?

Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. (2 Timothy 2:10 ESV)

The Apostle Paul suffers in chains as a criminal, he tells us in the previous verses.  Why?  He endures everything for the sake of the elect that they may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory!!!

Would I be willing to do such a thing?  I am reading every day in the news about Christians and Catholics in our own nation who are being persecuted for their faith. A teacher in Portland took a stand against Planned Parenthood coming into his class room because as a Catholic he has convictions about such things.  He was escorted from his class room recently by the police. Not even allowed to take his own belongings from the classroom.  Now he stands trial and could loose his teaching credentials all because he said no to Planned Parenthood promoting promiscuity and birth control in his classroom.

It's getting closer and closer to home.  We will be asked to take a stand for our faith eventually.  Can you and I stand firm in the face of persecution like Paul did and so many others do today for what we believe?
