Holy Bible Notes for Ecclesiastes 3

Jan.
Eccl 3:1-4 Psalm 116:15
M. Kelly

Death is the revelation of the wrath of God. It's not an invention of man. Death entered creation as a sentence against man. Romans 3 talks about this.

The Bible is not sentimental about death. It tells us the truth about death...a sentence for sin.

Death is a theme of Eccl and Romans. It is a major theme of the whole Bible. It is a reality in all of our lives.

God is faithful to tell us about what death means and about the death of Jesus. He teaches us how to live in light of our own impending deaths. There is no proper perspective in this life without the knowledge of our own impending deaths.

No one understands death except the Christian. We can be filled with both joy and sorrow at the same time. God is pleased with the death of His godly ones. Christ came into the world to save His people and death is but the gateway to glory.

Rev. 14:13 Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord.

2 Cor. 5:? perfer to be absent from the body and present with the Lord. Judy is absent from the body now and present with the Lord.

Phil.1:23 to die is gain. Death holds no terror for the Christian. It is the last enemy he has to face.
Let your hope of heaven master your fear of death.

We need to live according to the truth of our impending deaths. Death shows us clearly that we are not in control. God is in control. Living in contemplation of our deaths gives us perspective.

Psalm 90:11-12 teach us to number our days that we may have a heart of wisdom

2 Cor. 4:16-18 outer man decays but our inner man is being renewed day by day. Look on the things which are not seen.

Judy's death points to our death. She would have us learn from it. Judy is not dead. All men live for ever. she has simply left her body. It will return to dust. She is with the Lord. Everything that you are is your soul. The body is simply where the soul resides. She is with the Lord. She is not dead!

1 John 2:13-17 Do not love the world....

Judy is no longer of the world. God chose to take her out of the world. Death is the funeral of all of our sorrows.

Our citizenship is in heaven. Judy is in heaven!

Romans 14:8-9 He is Lord of both the dead and the living!

But none of these things move me, (not knowing what shall befall me v. 23) neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God. (Acts 20:24 KJV)
