More work for the Christian to do:
- be subject to rulers & authorities
- obey them
- be ready to do good works
- don't speak evil of anyone
- be peaceable
- be gentle
- be humble
The answer is below:
Titus 3:3-7 For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another.
But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
This is convicting. How often have I spoken evil of those in authority? I'm not saying we that if they are wrong we should not point it out. But how often have I spoken slanderously about them?
In terms of those outside of Christ, how often have I put my nose up in the air in an attitude of "I can't believe how dumb they are that they don't see the Light as I have!" This ought not to be....I am no better than they are. I would never have come to Christ if He had not plucked me from the fire. My salvation doesn't come from anything I have done. It's all of His doing and therefore I have no room to hold an attitude of this sort.
