Marsha's Musings: Remember The Prisoners As If Chained With Them (Hebrews 13:1-3 NKJV)

Let brotherly love continue. Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels. Remember the prisoners as if chained with them—those who are mistreated—since you yourselves are in the body also. (Hebrews 13:1-3 NKJV)

Here are some things to do and remember.  Entertaining strangers is difficult in this day when there is so much crime. We teach our children not to speak to strangers. How are we supposed to safely entertain strangers?  I don't have an answer for that.

Brotherly love is a little easier since that is love shown among those we know or those who, although we may be meeting them for the first time, they are known by others to be fellow believers.

When I read the verse about remembering the prisoners as if chained with them, I think of Mirium Ibrihim who is on death row for being a Christian. She is only one of many in those countries who are either languishing in prison for their faith or have already been tortured and killed. We must not forget to pray for them and fight for their freedom by signing petitions and letting our voices be heard. One day these things will come to our soil, indeed the persecution has already started in smaller ways with business owners being sued and some put out of business because they will not violate their consciences or the truth of the Bible. This is just the very tip of the iceberg.

Brotherly love is the glue that will bind us together in these difficult days.
