This is one of my favorite verses. Why is it that we CAN hold fast to the confession of our hope? It's because God is faithful! Our faith hinges of God's faithfulness.
Many get messed up here. When life throws a curve ball at them and things don't go well as they planned and hoped, then they throw their faith away because they say God has failed them.
The question must be asked, 'Did God promise that life on this earth would go as we planned? Did it go well with the apostle? Is it going well with the persecuted Christians all over the world? No!
God's promises deal with our spiritual welfare and future blessings in heaven with Him. He never said we would not have hardship. But He did say He would be with us in it. It is because of these promises that we can hold fast to our confession of faith.
