Marsha's Musings: Exhort the Young Men (Titus 2:6-8 NKJV)

Likewise, exhort the young men to be sober-minded, in all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, reverence, incorruptibility, sound speech that cannot be condemned, that one who is an opponent may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say of you. (Titus 2:6-8 NKJV)

No, Paul did not forget the young men in yesterdays passage.  They are to be sober-minded.

I wonder if the reason being sober-minded is the only thing here for them compared to the long list for the women and the short list for the men is because young men have a tendancy toward wild living and if that can be brought under control, the rest will fall into place?  Just a thought.

The preacher is to be an example and a pattern for them to follow.

How?
1. by a pattern of good works
2. and good doctrine
    a. showing integrity
    b. reverence
    c. incorruptibility
    d. sound speech that cannot be
        condemned

Why?
So that those who oppose you will be ashamed and have nothing legitimately evil to say against you.

They will still talk and try to slander and make up stories so they can have something evil to say.  But they will not have anything legitimate to say.
