Marsha Musings: Declaration of Trust (II Timothy 1:12 NKJV)

For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day. (II Timothy 1:12 NKJV)

What reason is Paul referring to for why he is not ashamed?  Look at the verses before.  It has to do with all the doctrine in the previous verses!

The Jews trusted in their works.  Paul's message excluded works. It made them mad, but Paul was not ashamed of the Gospel because he knew that was how people would be saved.

Paul trusted in God. He knew who he believed and he knew God's character and power to keep him.
