Marsha's Musings: Onesimus~A Picture of Us

Daily Quiet Time

With Onesimus, a faithful and beloved brother, who is one of you. They shall make known unto you all things which are done here. -Colossians 4:9

Onesimus was at one time a run away slave.  Paul led him to the Lord while he was in prison. Then Paul wrote a letter to Philemon, who had been his slave master, appealing to him to recieve him in the Lord as a brother and no longer a slave.

Paul sent Onesimus along with Tychicus to the Colossians to see how they were doing and bring a report back to Paul.  Also they were to bring a report to the Colossian church about how Paul was doing.

What about me?  How am I like Onesimus?  Am I  a "run away" slave to sin?  Or can I be counted as a faithful and beloved sister in Christ?  What areas of my life do I struggle with sin in?  Am I enslaved to it?  Are there things in my life that I would not be proud to have reported among fellow believers? What changes can I make to change this situation?
