I woke up at 4:30am with a bad headache and was frustrated to find the basement door unlocked and the garage light still on. Sarah was to come home late and was to have taken care of this as she came in.
In my headache state I was cranky and began jumping to conclusions about whether or not she had even come home or if she had, did she come home when she said she would.
I shot off some frustrated instant messages to her and upon looking at them when I got up later this morning I regretted having sent them in the state I was.
Lesson: Never, never send off email, posts, instant messages in the heat of the moment. Wait. Cool down. Reassess the situation when you can think clearly.
My Quiet Time
When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. (Colossians 3:4 KJV)
The phrase, "...Christ, who is our life..." is key here. He is the reason we live, move and have our being. He is the one who holds everything together. Without him there would be no life.
Jesus is the reason that we will appear with Him in glory when He appears. He will raise us up on the last day. I'm looking forward to this day! It will be a day without unwanted early wakings, headaches and unnessesary crabbiness on my part. A day without worries. It will be a day of worship and wonder around the throne of God. Yes, I am looking forward to that!
On a more practical, convicting note, when the Lord returns, what do I want him to find me doing? Do I want him to find me being a crabby crank? Do I want him to find me sporting a bad attitude? How do I want the Lord to find me on that day? If I am really looking forward to that day, won't I be more mindful of my actions and attitudes?
