Romans 2:1-16

Romans 3:9-12 is Paul's conclusion and the whole point of Romans.

Romans 3:23-24 no flesh will be justified in God's sight by the law....the righteousness of God is revealed and this is the Good News!

Paul's end is to show that none can be justified in God's sight through their own righteous behavior but rather through the obedience of Jesus Christ.

Paul first lays out justification through the law. Those who do evil, wrath. Those who do good, God's blessings. The problem Paul points out is that no one does good!

Many lose sight of Paul's argument and they come up with stuff that isn't meant. This is how many religions come up with justification by works.

It's not the hears of the law but the doers of the law who are justified...problem! No one obeys the law perfectly!!!

1.Sinners will meet a judge. v. 12
Who will decide if the deeds have come up to the bar of God's justice? God will! v. 16 God will judge through Christ Jesus! He is the judge! Acts 17:33-31. God has fixed a day when He will judge all men by Christ Jesus!

When Christ arose from the dead and later ascended to be seated at the right of the Father was in reality the judge rising to be seated in His office as judge. And men will be judged by Christ and men need a Savior to save them from His judgement! This is the true Easter message.

Hebrews 4:12 The Word of God judges the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

God will render to man according to his work...and his work falls short of God's standard, therefore he is condemned!

2. None are without law. v. 12 All who have sinned without having the written scriptures or law will perish without it. God has written the law on their hearts and they disobey it.

Gal.3:10 Cursed is the one who doesn't perform everything written in the book of the law.

3. Men are vilators of the law. The degree to what men violate the law of God is judged only by God and God alone. Only He is righteous and understands what it is to uphold the law and obey it perfectly. Only God can judge the hearts of men and record our throughts. We will be judged by our secrets...every idle word. He knows our motives and He will judge them.

4. Man is made to live by the law. He is made to be under authority. Man is made to live under rule. Our civil laws are based on Biblical laws.
God does not owe any of us a civil society but because of God's grace our society is not as bad as it could be.

5. To whom much is given, much is required. Luke 12:43-48 Those who have the written law are required much more.

John 8:31

6. Men are not condemned because God does not have mercy on them. Men are condemned for their sins. God owes no man grace. Jesus Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law. Gal 3:10-13.
