Days of Our Lives

Ha, ha, I know that is the name of a Soap Opera.  I don't know if it is still on the air or not.  Another one was As the World Turns, but I always called it, "As the Stomach Turns".  I never had much use for soap operas but I got much amusement out of the titles given to them.

So anyway, all that said to catch you up on the days of our lives as the world turns.  Ha, ha.  Actually, our lives have been somewhat like a soap opera lately.  No, no...I don't mean with all the extra marital affairs and divorces!!!  I just mean soap opera in the sense of drama.  Okay, glad we got that straightened out.

We've had our difficulties and challenges here.  My husband has had a lot of trouble with his mood disorder poking its nose into things.  So we've had a lot of medical appointments and such and more to come.  But God is faithful.

We recently lost a very dear friend to a heart attack in the last two weeks.  That has really made me sad.  I miss her a lot.  I've started reading a book she gave me some time ago on the book of Habakkuk by Walter Chantry.  I love it that she marked the passages that meant a lot to her as she read it.  It will be like having her right here beside me to point out what was meaningful to her.

The good stuff is that Sarah worked for three weeks almost full time at the library preparing for a big display on the great depression.  Opening night was great.  She was glad to get the hours and the money and she loved every minute of the work.

Sarah got a nice piece of mail today.  A $5000 dollar scholarship to the college she has been looking at and is hoping to attend one day when she can get the funds all together.

Nathaniel is learning to drive.  We practice in a big parking lot.  Had some fun in the snow last week letting him skid on purpose so he could see how it felt.

Nathaniel still enjoys making Lego Movies, reading, and writing theological papers.  He also enjoys spending time with the neighbor boy and attending home school co-ops.  Right now he is in bowling with the home school kids.

Daisy and DJ are always adding drama to the day.  Yesterday I got out of bed and came to the living room to find Daisy had made herself a bed in the blanket on the couch.  She is not allowed on the couch.  Her and DJ are always competing for territory under the kitchen table and Daisy steals his bones and food whenever she gets the chance.  DJ normally slams his feet down whenever he is running around the house (he rarely walks) but leave the gate on the stairs ajar and he suddenly lifts his toes and sneaks quietly to the stairs.  If he can get past the bell on the gate he heads for the basement where he empties trash cans.

And then there's me.  I just uploaded a couple books to Kindle yesterday and today. Hoping maybe it will generate a little extra income for us.  You can check those out here.  I plan to dig out my devotional manuscripts and redo those so they can be uploaded to Kindle as well.

I just keep the household running as smoothly as possible.  Today my big achievement was removing the shower head and cleaning all the gook out of it so we can get some water to flow decently enough to get the soap out of our hair.  And that is all the soap I have to share in this opera!  I hope the fat lady never has to sing here because I guess I'm the only female here that would qualify and that wouldn't be very pretty.
