Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice. -John 18:37
Jesus knew why He was born and why He came into the world. His sole purpose in life was to bear witness to the truth.
Pilate asked Him, "What is truth?". In a nut shell, the truth is the Gospel and the Gospel is Jesus coming in the flesh to take the wrath of God against sinners upon Himself so that we may be saved.
Jesus took the punishment we deserved, died and was buried. But He didn't stay in the tomb. He rose triumphant over death and sin.
Because He lives, we also have a cause and a purpose to fulfill in our lives. What is?
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, and be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God which is your reasonable service. Romans 12:1-2
Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. -1 Corinthians 10:31
Rejoice this day that Jesus fulfilled His purpose in life! How are we doing fulfilling the purpose He made us for?
