Marsha's Musings: The god of this Age

Col 2:8-10 See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.
For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and you have been given fullness in Christ, who is the head over every power and authority.

The warning here is to not be swayed by those who would tell you that Jesus was not God in bodily form. I have had some tell me that Jesus was not the one true God but that He was a god, one of many.  I've been told that Jesus is the god of this world and that there are other worlds that also have gods.  This is hollow, deceptive philosophy that depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world.

Here is something interesting.  Read these verses 2 Corinthians.

2Co 4:4-6 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake.
For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.
