Devotional: The Real Reason for Christmas

Galatians 4:4-5 But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law,  to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.

All the trimmings, wrapping, parties, hustle and bustle of the holidays is meaningless when it is devoid of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Here in these verses we have the whole meaning of the season in a nutshell.

We have prophesy fulfilled: when the fullness of the time had come.

We have God putting His plan of salvation in motion: God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law

We have the reason He did it: to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.

What you might ask, did God need to redeem us from?  Another verse in  Matthew 1:21 tells us, "And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins."

This Christmas season spend some time reflecting on the true reason for the season.
