Marsha's Musings: Health & Wealth Gospel

2Co 12:7 And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure.
8 Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me.
9 And He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness." Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

The health and wealth gospel is false.  For one, we know from other writings of Paul that he went without many times, so wealth was not a part of God's plan for his life.  And here, we see that health was not part of God's plan for his life either.

The health and wealth preachers would have you believe that God wants you to be healthy and wealthy but it is all dependent on your faith.  So, if your health is not so good or your pocket is not full of money, it's your fault because you don't have enough faith.  Hogwash! If that is true, then the Apostle Paul didn't have much faith and we know he was a man of great faith.

No, sometimes God has a plan and a purpose to show His power and glory through weak vessels.  His grace can shine through weak vessels that are submitted to His will and purpose.
