Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
(KJV)
The other night it was late and I just wanted to go to bed. But it was also cold, so I thought I'd blow the dust out of our space heater so I could warm up the room before bed. I never planned to dismantle the heater, but the little red straw that goes on the End Dust can blew off inside the heater and I couldn't get it out.
Grumbling and frustrated, I got the screw drivers out and took the thing apart. I discovered that it was so dirty inside that End Dust wasn't going to do the job. I needed a vacuum cleaner. The fan had been starting up really slow, so I took a look at that too. I discovered lots of hair wound up all around the fan shaft that was slowing it down. I was able to remove it with the hemostats. Now the fan works great.
I grumbled and wrote a short post on Facebook about my experience. A friend straightened my perspective out by saying that she saw God's hand all over this. I had never thought about the fact that it was a fire safety hazard and that God was protecting me by making it so I had to take the heater apart to see the greater issue at hand.
God is so good and He does work all things for our good. Sometimes things don't turn out like we wish or think they should, but He has a good purpose for the good and the bad. When we grumbling we are grumbling against His Providence in our lives. In this case, I was grumbling against His protecting hand. Shame on me.
