Marsha's Musings: Blinding Religious Traditions; The Remedy; Reflections of Jesus

2Co 3:15 But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart.
16 Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.
17 Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

The NIV says it a little more clear:

2Co 3:15 Even to this day when Moses is read, a veil covers their hearts.
16 But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.
17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

This is referring to the Jewish nation.  They are blinded by their religious traditions and can't see what the Old Testament was pointing to....the advent of Jesus Christ and His ultimate sacrifice for sin on the cross.

It is equally applicable to many today.  There are many who are trapped in religion, blinded by their traditions who are not able to see who Jesus really is and what He came to do. The remedy comes when they turn to the Lord.  He removes the veil that blinds them and gives them freedom from bondage to sin and religious tradition.  What a glorious truth this is!!

2Co 3:18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
(NKJV)

2Co 3:18 And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
(NIV)

Those of us who have turned to the Lord are meant to be reflections of His glory to those around us.  We are being transformed more and more into His likeness only through the Spirit of the Lord.  If we aren't reflecting Jesus to others, then something is wrong.
