Devotion:Two Black Eyes & Still Cute

2Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

At my dad's 80th birthday celebration, he was sporting two black eyes due to a surgery he had had the day before on them.  The birthday cake was sitting in front of him and pictures were being taken when my three year old great niece burst out, "He is so cute!"  We were all surprised and then busted up laughing.  Kids say the funniest things.

I think this is a good illustration of how God sees those who are believers in Jesus Christ.  The verse above says that God made Jesus to be sin for us, ...that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. God's justice demands that our sin be dealt with.  Because of what Jesus did on the cross in taking our sin upon Himself, God sees us as righteous.  We may be sporting two black eyes of sin, but because God sees us through the blood of Jesus shed on our behalf,  He can say, "He is so cute!"  He sees us as if we have not sinned.

If you are struggling under the weight of the guilt of your sin, you no longer need too.  Jesus has taken it upon Himself to bring you peace with God.  Won't you accept what He has done today?
