Devotional: In That Day

Isaiah 25:8-9 He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it. And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.

Here we have a prophesy of what Christ would do when He came. Adam Clarke's Commentary says,
Verse 8. He will swallow up death] He, by the grace of God, will taste death for every man. Hebrews 2:9. Probably, swallow up death, and taste death, in both these verses, refer to the same thing: Jesus dying instead of a guilty world. These forms of speech may refer to the punishment of certain criminals; they were obliged to drink a cup of poison. That cup which every criminal in the world must have drunk, Jesus Christ drank for them; and thus he swallowed up death: but as he rose again from the dead, complete victory was gained.
Christ died that we might live with Him in eternity. He took the punishment for sin that should have been ours.

I love the part about God wiping away tears from all faces. This reminds me of Revelation 21:4.
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
I so look forward to the day when all death, sorrow, crying and pain will be a thing of the past. On that day, I will say, "This is my God; I have waited for him, that he might save me. This is the Lord; I have waited for him; I will be glad and rejoice in his salvation."

Will you be able to say this with me on that day? If you are not sure, I'd be glad to communicate with you and show you how you can know for sure that you will be able to say this.
