Homeschool: One Thing Veteran Mom's Wished They Had Done

We had two mom who were all done homeschooling their kids come to our support group meeting.  I asked them what one thing would they do differently if they had it all to do over again.  They said they would have spent more time exploring career options with their kids and helping them to determine what it is they want to do in life.

I think there is wisdom in this.  If you can determine what your child wants to do in life you can taylor their education toward that end.  I also wonder, if we were to spur our children to think on what they want to do in life, if maybe this would be a good motivator for them to work hard in school because they would actually have a goal to shoot for.

I am planning to have my daughter go through a book that steps her through making a highschool portfolio.  Within this workbook is  career explortation exercises that help define what it is she wants to do with her life.  It will be interesting to see how all this works out.
