Luke 8:49-50 (KJV)
While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue's house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master.
But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole.
"Fear no: believe only". If only this formula worked for all of today's adverse events that God's people suffer! Yet, sometimes this is what God asks us to do in the absence of any real improvement in our life or that of our loved ones.
Back when Jesus was healing people, He did it for a reason. The healings were signs pointing to the deity of Jesus.
Today, God asks for our trust even when the outcome isn't what we expect or want. Why?
He told the Apostle Paul, "My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness." And Paul responded with, "Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
So the question becomes this: Is God enough for me in the absence of healing or desired change in our circumstances? Trust in Him, He works all things out for good according to His purposes.
