Marsha's Musings: Overcoming Faith (1 John 5:4-8 KJV)

         

For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. (1 John 5:4-8 KJV)

That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.  -John 3:15

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  -John 3:16

Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.  -John 3:5

That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.  -John 3:6

If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?  -John 3:12

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; -Titus 3:5

Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; -Titus 3:6

That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. -Titus 3:7

How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? -Hebrews 9:14

Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; -1 Peter 1:18

But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: -1 Peter 1:19
