Peter gets right down to brass tacs here. In light of the coming judgment of God and destruction of the world, we should be conducting our lives in holiness and godliness while looking for the coming day of God.
How many professed Christians fill the church pews each Sunday and live like the Devil the rest of the week!? I recieved an email from a woman recently who had been sexually harrassed by another church member. Her friend, also a member of that church had been date raped by another church member. I understand that pornography is a vice used by many men who profess to be Christians also. Many still time from their boss. Others lie and cheat on their spouses. All these things and more go on in Christian churches.
It seems the church of God has lost sight of why we exist....to glorify God. Entertainment is the order of the day and the preaching of God's word is no longer front and center. It's a mere 15 to 20 minute devotional tacked on to a long rousing song and entertainment service. People are not taught about sin and holy living. That is not "seeker friendly" and neither is doctrine.
My friends, these things ought not to be! How can a person do these things with impunity and claim the name of Christ? If you are living in sin and are not repentant, then something is terribly wrong. Please get on your knees before the throne of grace in true repentance and live with eternity in view.
