Marsha's Musings: Two Things Strangers and Pilgrims Should Do (1 Peter 2:11-12 KJV)

Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul; Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation. (1 Peter 2:11-12 KJV)

This world is not my home, I'm just passing through. My treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue...

I can't remember the rest of the lyrics but I remember that much and the tune from my childhood. We are strangers and pilgrims in this world and we are just passing through. There are two things we are supposed to do to make our mark in this world.

1. Abstain from fleshly lusts...they war against your soul
2. Let your conversation be honest among unbelievers

You never know how your actions may influence a nonbeliever. They may call us evil doers now, but who knows, maybe our actions will one day cause them to rethink their position and we will find ourselves rejoicing beside them in heaven one day?!
