Marsha's Musings: Our Only Hope (James 2:10-11 KJV)

For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law. (James 2:10-11 KJV)

This verse is giving only two of the ten commandments. Everyone of us has committed at least one of the Ten Commandments.  All of them have equal weight according to Scripture.  A murdere is not deserving of more punishment than one who lies about another or steals.  If you break one of the commandments, you are guilty of breaking the whole law.  It's a package deal.

Since breaking one commandment means breaking the whole law, what does that make all of us?  It makes us all lawbreakers...sinners who have missed the mark.

Our only hope is in Jesus Christ because He kept the law perfectly in our place.

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:23 KJV)
