Marsha's Musings: May God Slap Me Up Side The Head...(James 4:1-6 NKJV)

Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members? You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures. Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously”? But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.” (James 4:1-6 NKJV)

Here is the root of many church problems.  Church members cause trouble under the guise of spiritual reasons but just a little bit of digging will show they want their desires and pleasures to be met and very often it has nothing to do with being Biblical or correcting doctrinal error but everything to do with power and having things done their way. I've seen it many times over and at times from the front row seat. It is sad and ugly.

I pray that God would slap me up side of the head if I ever get on my high horse to cause trouble in the church! May I have the good sense to leave quietly and keep my mouth shut if I become unhappy with my church. I don't ever see me becoming unhappy where I'm at at this point and for that I am very thankful!
