Marsha's Musings: Asking for Wisdom (James 1:5-8 NKJV)

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. (James 1:5-8 NKJV)

Proverbs has much to say about wisdom.  Here are a couple of verses out of many in Proverbs:

Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding. (Proverbs 4:7 NKJV)

How much better to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver. (Proverbs 16:16 NKJV)

Where do we find wisdom?  God is the giver of wisdom.  We must ask Him for it, believing in faith that He will supply it.  God will never reproach one who asks for wisdom as long as that person is asking in faith and does not doubt God.  Doubting God's abitlity to supply wisdom is a slap in His face.  We must trust Him to give wisdom to deal with the trials that we encounter and with that wisdom, we will be able to develop patience as we go through them.
