Marsha's Musings: How Can a Promise of Perilous Times be Comforting? (II Timothy 3:1-5 NKJV)

But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! (II Timothy 3:1-5 NKJV)

These verses should bring great comfort to me.  I'm sure that sounds really strange.  But the reason it gives me comfort is because it proves the Bible is true.  Not only that, it proves that God loves me enough to tell me the truth.  He doesn't hide anything or sugarcoat it.  I would much rather be warned of what is coming than get broadsided with it.

He says to turn away from the kinds of people listed above.  Does this mean we are to go hide away from the world?  No! It just means that we are not to form close friendships, and alliances with those who do these things.  If we hid ourselves away from the world and never interacted with these people, how could we fulfill the Great Comission?
