Marsha's Musings: Overslept!

Goodness!  I woke up late today!  My alarm did not go off and I didn't wake up until 8:40am!  My how that messes with my day!

I have not really accomplished much of anything today and here it is already 1:26pm. At least the sprinkler guy came and we got the sprinkler systems working again.  Now I need to go to a hardware store or some place and find some parts to fix some of my hoses and things.

I read my Bible and I made lunch and that is really all I have done so far today.

I'm reading through Colossians. That is a really rich book!  Look at what I read today:

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross. (Colossians 1:15-20 ESV)
This is speaking of Jesus!
1. He is the image of the invisible God.  We see God through Him.

2. He is firstborn of all creation.  This doesn't mean he came into existence before everything else.  He has always existed.  It just means He is superior to everything.  He is first before all creation.  He is the first cause.

3. All things were created by Him. (see #2)

4.  He created EVERYTHING including those who rule over us, the Devil and his angels....the whole ball of wax.  He created it!

5. He created it all for himself.

6. He holds all things together.  Our world would fly apart were it not for Him holding it together.

7. He is before all things, the head of the Church and He is preeminent over all.

8. Peace is made by His own blood on the cross.

Wow!  It's all about Him.  Not about me.  So much of our worship is centered around man.  Man gets praised for what he does in the church through ministries, music, whatever.  Everyone wants to have something to do and title in the church. We do have something to do in the church!  Read through the Bible and find all the one another commands in the Bible....get busy doing those with a conscience toward honouring God.  We don't need a title or a "ministry" to serve in the church.
