Marsha's Musings: Debriefing on the Last Few Days

It's good to be back to somewhat of my regular at home routine.  I missed my daily morning scripture reading and blogging.

My Quiet Time

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. (Colossians 3:15-17 KJV)

Oh boy, do I ever need these verses!  I haven't been round here for a few days because I got called to work temporarily. I wish I had gotten to these verses before I got called to work because my patience was tried sorely and found wanting.  Disorganization and lack of communication from the supervisors made for some very stressful times and my reactions to all of it were not the best that they could have been.  Perhaps had I had these verses as a focus for those days I would have handled it all with more patience and thankfulness.

Main points here:
1. Let the peace of God rule in your hearts
2. Be thankful
3. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you in all wisdom
4. Encourage others by teaching them the word
5. Encourage others through song
6. Have grace in your heart
7. Sing to the Lord
8. Do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus
9. Give thanks!

Notice the emphasis on being thankful!  When the going gets tough, I have an awful hard time being thankful.  I am more prone to complain.  Thankfulness and complaining don't co-exist.  Complaining is a symptom of discontentment with what God has provided.

Ouch. This really hurts, because I complained a lot this week.  I am so quick to complain. Lord, forgive me and help me to do better next time.
