Marsha's Musings: An "Off" day & What to Put On

Goodness!  My alarm was not turned up and I overslept big time!  I did not get up until 9:12 and it has taken me all morning just to get my marbles rolling in the right direction.  I don't feel too badly though.  Yesterday was an extremly productive day for me.  So I feel like I can afford to have an "off" day.

My Quiet Time

Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. (Colossians 3:12-14 KJV)

When you are trying to get rid of bad habit we are told we must replace it with a good habit. For instance, smokers must replace their smoking habit with chewing gum or sucking on candies so they are distracted from the urge to smoke.  Eventually they no longer feel the urge to smoke.

In the previous verses we saw we are to put off or put to death, mortify certain things. In the verses above we see what we are to replace those things with.

1. Merices
2. Kindness
3. Humbleness
4. Meekness
5. Longsuffering (patience)
6. Forgiveness
7. Love

I would challenge you to look up each word and learn what it means to replace the list of bad things with this list of good things.
