Philippians 2:19-30
v. 19-20 If someone came to check up on the condition of your church, what would they find?
v. 21-22 Paul wanted to send Timothy because he was like minded, concerned for other's welfare and the interests of Jesus Christ instead of his own ambitions. He had proven his worth to Paul as he had served with him. Can others say the same for me? Have I proven my worth to those I serve?
v. 23-24 Paul hopes to send Timothy immediately and then followup soon after.
v. 25-30 He also sent Epaphrditus because he was upset that they heard he had been sick. He almost died but God had mercy on him. So Paul sends him so they may be encouraged and Paul will be less concerned about them. They are told to hold men like him in high regard, because he nearly worked himself to death to take up the slack where the Philippians failed in their service to Paul. This seems like a rebuke. So the question must be asked: Do I do my part in the church so others do not have to take on an extra load unnecessarily?
