Daniel 9:4-6
And I prayed to the Lord my God, and made confession, and said, "O Lord, great and awesome God, who keeps His covenant and mercy with those who love Him, and with those who keep His commandments, we have sinned and committed iniquity, we have done wickedly and rebelled, even by departing from Your precepts and Your judgments. Neither have we heeded Your servants the prophets, who spoke in Your name to our kings and our princes, to our fathers and all the people of the land.
Daniel's prayer here begins with confession. This is an intense prayer and petition to God about understanding certain scripture: to gain a depth of insight and revelation. Daniel has the heart to confess not only his own sin, but the sin of all Israel. Doing this is right and good, because confessing and asking forgiveness of our sins acknowledges that we desperately need God. Only God is holy and He does not sin. Be on your guard and be honest with God: breakthrough awaits just around the corner of confession.

But none of these things move me, (not knowing what shall befall me v. 23) neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God. (Acts 20:24 KJV)
