Devotional:Our Attitude Toward Those Who Mistreat Us

KJV: Psalms Chapter 35

[12] They rewarded me evil for good to the spoiling of my soul. [13] But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom.

How often do I secretly and openly gloat over those who are against me when things don't go well for them?

The Psalmist gives us an example that we should follow.  He prayed for those who mistreated him and was sad when they were sick.  This is the opposite of what we usually think to do.

Jesus tells us in Matthew 5:44,
“But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; “

How often do I practice this?  To my shame, I often think the opposite way.  I believe in coming days we will have ample opportunity to practice this. We are in the last days and we will have many that will be against us.  Will we curse them or will we do good to them and pray for them?
