1Timothy 6:6 ¶ Now godliness with contentment is great gain.
7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
8 And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content.
This is not saying that if we are godly and content that we will amass riches and whatever we want. That would be the prosperity gospel that many teach.
It is saying that godliness with contentment is great gain...speaking of spiritual gain, not physical gain. It must be read in context with the verses following it. (7-8)

hi marsha, i have been reading and appreciating your blog for quite a while now...i was wondering if you would take the time to say a little prayer for me in faith...that God would grant me the grace and mercy to live content with Him and what He has given me. I want to know the fullness of Him and all He has for me and stop focusing on other things. I appreciate you. God bless you. In Jesus name.
Thanks for the prayer request. I just now prayed for you. I think this is a common struggle among most Christians. I know I struggle with it, so as a fellow-struggler, I will pray for God to grant you grace and mercy in this area.
Dear Father, We all struggle at one time or another with being content with that which you have given us. Some struggle more than others with this. Please grant us grace and mercy to be content to live within the means that you have provided and to seek you first. Help us to experience and know your fullness and to trust you for our daily bread. In Jesus Name, Amen
