In reading through 1 Corinthians, I am amazed at how much the Bible has to say about women and their conduct. That doesn't even take into account the other passages of the Bible that talk about how women in general and wives should conduct themselves in the church.
The Bible gives instructions on how a woman should dress, their demeanor, use of their tongues, their place in church, and their ministry to others.
1Ti 2:9 ¶ In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with braided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
(the culture of that day dictated that women wear their hair as long as they could grow it and that it hang down as far as it could to their ankles. Braiding it would shorten it up. In that culture the long hair was part of a woman's covering & modesty. I think the point here is that women should dress modestly and not flaunt their wealth if they have it.)
1Pe 3:1 ¶ Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;
1Pe 3:5 For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:
1Co 14:34 ¶ Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.
Tit 2:3 the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things--
4 that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children,
5 to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed.
Ever since the Fall, women have desired to have the upper hand over men. We tend to chafe when we are not in control. But that is not the order God has ordained. I struggle with this as much as the next woman. I pray that by God's grace I will be strengthened to take my place
