Devotional: Thanksgiving

By Marsha Iddings

Psalm 30:4 Sing praise to the LORD, You saints of His, And give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name.

Thanksgiving is just around the corner.  What will you give thanks for this year?  Good health, success in accomplished goals, friends, family, food and abundance?  What will it be?

Even though we are in what they call a depression economically in our nation, we are still a nation of plenty.  Some of us have had to take paycuts and that is difficult to manage, but if we still have food in our bellies and a roof over our heads, then we have much to be thankful for.

We often complain about the state of the world and our nation, but we have so much to be thankful for.  Even if all was taken away from us, we can have the assurance of salvation and look forward to a heavenly home.  Our verse above says to give thanks at the remembrance of Gods holy name!  If we have nothing else we can thank God for, we can thank Him for His holiness

This Thanksgiving, if things dont go the way you had hoped, then spend some time contemplating Gods holiness and what that means to you.  As you do this, Im sure you will find some thing to be thankful for.
