the best of sleep last night. Nathaniel had a band pop off his braces
around 2:30 in the morning and I had already been awake about an hour
before that.
So this morning I am dealing with a headache and feeling quite tired.
Everyone is still in bed, so the house is quiet. I've taken my
vitamins, Tylenol, eaten breakfast and enjoying some quiet while I drink
my green tea. Then I'll shower and hope I feel more energetic for this
camping trip. It is going to be God's grace and strength that holds me
up the next few days.
The weather forecast for our camping trip has been rain. We are praying
the 40% chance of rain each day happens at night. We are taking winter
clothes. It is weird packing for winter when the temp. outside has been
between 80 and 90 degrees. The park is only 45 minutes away, but the
elevation is high enoough that the temps up there are about 10 degrees
lower than home.
-----------------------
It's 3pm and we are all set up here at our Yurt. Today it's beautiful
weather. Tomorrow and Friday it is supposed to have a 30% to 40% chance
of rain. We are hoping the weather man is wrong.
It's cool here. At least ten degrees cooler than home. It was 72
degrees when we left home and it feels like about 62 degrees here.
Feels good in the sun with a dark sweatshirt on.
Sarah and Nathaniel took off on the bikes about 40 minutes ago. Sarah
checked in a few minutes ago on the walkie talkie and said they were
still alive. :-)
We are really taking advantage of the weather today since the next two
days we are here are questionable.
I did the majority of the packing for this trip including putting things
in the Blazer. So when we got here, I told everyone I wasn't going to
do much unloading.
It's nice to have my pocket PC and keyboard along so I can write updates
on our trip. Of course they won't be posted until we get back home, but
it's nice to be able to let you all know how our trip went.

We had hamburgers for dinner tonight. Then the kids made smores and we
roasted marshmallows.
Nathaniel had left his plate with two grahm crakcers and two pieces of
chocolate on the table on the deck. A squirrel came up on the deck and
stole some of his choclolate. Brave little varmints.
Now I am sitting in the car waiting for Sarah & Nathaniel. I drove them
to the lake area and they are walking a trail around the lake to go find
an abandoned barn and some cows that they saw earlier. Sarah wants to
take photos with her fancy camera. Guess it's not enough to have taken
them with her point and shoot.
I just saw them across the lake for a few miniutes, but then they
disappeared into the trees. I guess they are headed around the bend.
Sarah is supposed to check in on the walkie talkie as soon as they get
to the barn.
It's so peaceful here. They don't allow motor boats on the lake unless
they are electric motors. So it is very quiet. I'm sitting here with a
wonderful lake view. I'm a little frustrated that I forgot to bring a
magazine to read while I wait. I suppose when Sarah checks in on the
walkie talkie if it is going to be quite a few minutes before they get
back I could go back to camp and get a magazine.
Rick just called me on the walkie talkie and asked me to look under the
Blazer and see if something is leaking because he found a small puddle
where we had parked. Sure enough, we are leaking antifreeze. Hope it
won't cause us any trouble for getting home Friday. It's a brand new
radiator too.

We got in the Blazer to drive up to the good bathrooms and it is deader
than a door nail. It won't start. Not even a sound when we turn the
key. We walked in the dark to the bathrooms. Now we have tomorrow to
find someone to jump us & hope that it will work. If not, then we are
really in a fix. Praying God will help us to get it fixed quickly and
inexpensively.
Now it is time to sleep. Hope we can sleep well in spite of feeling a
bit trapped here. I take comfort knowing that there are a lot of other
campers nearby should we need help.

July 1
It's 8:51. I am up and have eaten. I have the fire started and the
dogs pottied and tied out.
Last night was pretty sleepless between the noisy neighbors and my
hips/lower back bothering my most the night. Guess the bed is too hard.
Today we need to get someone to help us figure out what is wrong with
the Blazer since we are pretty stranded here right now.
We got some of our forty percent chance of rain this morning before I
got up. I see clouds, but I also see some blue sky, so hoping for a
half way decent day today. If today holds out for us that would be
great. We have to check out of the yurt by noon.

Praise the Lord! The man in the next camp site is a mechanic and he was
able to get the Blazer running again for us. Now Rick and the kids are
gone into town to buy water and run the car a bit to charge the battery
up. Rats, in all the excitement, I forgot to tell them we needed to buy
ice. :-(
Well now I am here by myself for a while, enjoying the fire and some sun
breaking through the clouds. I'm thinking perhaps we got our forty
percent chance of rain for the day....I really hope.

It's 4pm. The Blazer seems to be behaving itself now. We went to the
Wolf Education Center. Walked the trails to see the wolves but never
saw one. Then we walked an alternate trail to the parking lot which
turned out to be quite a cliimb. More of a walk than what we bargained
for. Once we got in the car and headed out, we saw a wolf off in the
distance.
After we left the Wolf Center we headed over to Winchester to buy ice.
Now we are relaxing around the fire until dinner.

It has been a relaxing afternoon at the yurt. Spent a lot of time
sitting around the fire, reading, working puzzles, visiting and checking
on the kids by walkie talkie.
I''ve been really sore today. My shoulders and my hips and lower back
are really sore. My arms are sore as well. I couldn't figure out how
sleeping on this hard bed would make me that sore, but then I
remembered, I did the bulk of the packing and then most of putting it
all in the car because I knew just how I wanted it packed so everything
would fit. I guess next time I let the others do the car packing and I
just give orders where to put the stuff.
Well, this is our last night here. I am getting ready to get into bed.
The kids are goofing around by the fire. It's almost 10 pm. I am
hoping for a good night of sleep tonight since I am so tired from the
bad night last night.
In spite of how tired I am, always seem to do better out in the fresh
air. I've felt pretty good most the day other than soreness. God is
good.

July 2, 2010
Slept a little better last night. We had a big wind and rain storm
during the night. I also think we had a racoon visitor around 1:00 pm.
It's a little harder to get up and get going today. I am relaxing right
now with a cup of hot tea, but once I am done, I will need to start
figuring out how to repack the car. That is a huge puzzle to get
everthing in .
Well, it looks like I have visitors. The nieghboring camper's kids are
here to visit. It amazes me how people just let their young children run
around here and talk to anyone and go into anyone's camp sites. My kids
are teens. We let them ride the bikes all over the place, but they have
to take walkie talkies and check in with us.

Home at last! It took us almost an hour to get the car packed again.
We decided to eat at home instead of making lunch at camp. Was a good
thing too, because we would have never gotten checked out in time.
It was raining a little when we left and it was raining when we arrived
home. But the weather was perfect during the day times when we were
there. It poured during the night last night.
I am extremly sore in the legs. After napping I could hardly get up. I
guess all the hiking and then climbing in and out of the back end of the
Blazer getting things packed has taken its toll. I am not as young as I
used to be!
