After having some time to think about what the doctor had to say to me last Friday about my bone loss and the need for medication, I have come down off the fear he instilled in me and am thinking more rationally about my options.
I have lived ten years with a high fracture risk. The dire predictions that were given me ten years ago did not come true. I was told I could not increase my bone density without meds then but as of 2007 I had. So I know it's possible.
My next plan of action is to get a DEXA scan and see where I stand. I am getting on a regular weight bearing exercise program of 30 minutes a day. I'm researching what I can do for my diet to enhance my bones and finding that I am already doing quite a bit. There are just a few things I need to tweak there. So I plan to work with this for the next year and then scan again and see where I am compared to now and go from there.
