Most of my best laid plans went by the way side Saturday when I woke up with the runs. I was very frustrated as I have much I need to be doing, but my energy level is at zilch. But, the Lord reminded me of a passage of scripture today that I need to paste on my wall:
James 4:13-17 Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. {It...: or, For it is} For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil. Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
I see at least two lessons here for me.
Lesson #1
I can make my plans, but I don't know what the day will bring forth so I need to be willing to say, "If the Lord will, I will do this or that." I need to be willing to be flexible and bend with the direction that God takes me.
Lesson #2
I need to do what I can do when I feel well and am able to do it. This means time management and not wasting time when I am well. "To him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin." If I neglect my duties when I am able to do them, then it is sinful. Ouch. Also, if I neglect my duties when I am able to do them, then when I am not feeling well, everything gets even further behind.
So, yes, I had a rough day on Saturday, but God is good to teach me a lesson or two along the way that hopefully will stick in my brain and do me good.
