The way we communicate has changed with the advent of social media and email. While it is nice to be able to keep in contact with friends and relatives more quickly and easily, it also brings inherent dangers to the table.
One of those dangers among many, is the temptation to say things to people that you wouldn't otherwise say if you were face to face with the person. To my shame, I had this experience this week. I'll not go into details, just suffice it to say that I responded to someone in a less than godly manner and feelings were hurt.
I have seen this take place among my children's friends as well and it left a trail of embarrassment for the mom and dad and frustrated hurt friends in the wake.
It has shown me how wicked and evil my heart really is, when I find myself responding through electronic media in ways that are not good. Psalm 141:3 is a good verse to remember "Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips." As it relates to electronic media, we could say, "Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; take control of my fingers on the keys."
