Lessons of Life: Priorities

Teens are so full of life.  They want to do it all.  Every time the phone rings and it's a friend wanting to do something, they want to say yes.

We as parents have to take the reins and teach them the value of saying no once in a while.  We have to teach them about priorities, about limits and how to manage their time.

Tough lessons to learn for them.  But if we don't teach them to say no some times, then when they are out on their own, they will be victims of the tyranny of the urgent like we have been at times.

I'm so proud of them.  They said no tonight to an invitation to go to the water park.  They realized they were tired and wanted to stay home and watch a family movie tonight instead.   They are learning that just because the invitations are out there, they don't have to say yes all the time.
