Isaiah 26:3-4 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:
We often focus on the "perfect peace" part of this verse, forgetting that there is a condition to be met before we can have that perfect peace.
When we trust in the Lord, it will result in perfect peace and access to that everlasting strength that is in Him.
How do we trust in the Lord so that we can access that perfect peace? The verse says that our mind must be stayed on the Lord. The New International Version says "whose mind is steadfast". Steadfast brings with it the meaning of being unwavering. I think of James 1:5-6,
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. Our minds need to be constantly turned toward the Lord. We can not let anything move us from that resolve. When we do this, this is when we will experience that "perfect peace".
Do you have the perfect peace of God in your life today? Join me in persevering to keep our minds toward God, that we might experience that perfect peace that can only be found in Him.
