Devotion: I Will Trust, and Not be Afraid

Isaiah 12:2 Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.

God's people have no need for fear when they are trusting in Almighty God. Frail humans that we are, though, we are prone to worry and fret when circumstances threaten our temporal comfort and security.

Isaiah says, "I will trust, and not be afraid." We have to make up our minds that we will trust God to do what He deems best for us spiritually. We have to put forth the effort to resist temptation to worry and fret.

The Apostle Paul says, "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." ~Philippians 4:8

It is a conscious effort to think on the things listed above. It is also a conscious effort to do what the following verse says:

Philippians 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; (NKJV)

When we do these things, then we will have peace and will have no need to be afraid. We will have peace that God will do what He deems best for us. He will give us the strength we need to endure whatever trial may come our way and our song will not be silenced because we know that God is our salvation.

Persevere, my friend, for God is your strength and salvation.
