Economic hard times seem to be hitting a lot of people these days. Our family is not exempt. We are finding that we are having to tighten our belts financially too. It's difficult with high medical bills and homeschooling. But we are learning to cut back.

Recently, I realized the need to find curriculum for US History that covered from the 1990's to present because her current curriculum stops in the 1990's. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on curriculum, most of which, we would not use just to get that time period. So I got creatively frugal.

I have a friend who gets World Magazine and has for years. I asked her if she had any back issues. Turns out she has saved them for years. She will loan us all the year in review issues that give all the major headline for each year. My daughter can still learn history for that time period to present and we won't have to spend money on curriculum for her to get it.
