Creative Solution to Gardening When Pain Prevents You From It

Gardening seems to be out for me. Can't dig. It flares my shoulders up. Can't weed it flares tendonitis up. The dog will destroy it first chance he gets. So I've had to get creative....

I've taken the plastic containers I get grapes and kiwi in from Costco, lined them with newspaper, filled them with potting soil and I've planted mixed salad greens, leaf lettuce, parsley and chives in them. They are deep enough that I can just let it grow right in the containers. When the plants are up high enough, I'll just leave the lids open.
Since the dog will destroy them or pee on them anywhere in his reach, I've decided to put them on the garage roof. In the back yard the garage roof hangs low enough that I can put them up and take them down without having to use a step stool or ladder, but the dog can't jump that high. If everything will grow, it will be the perfect solution.
Next, I need to get my hydro farm cleaned up and then get it going again. My hydro farm sits on the window sill in the basement. I have grown lettuce in it in the past as well. I should have kept it going all winter long, but didn't this past year. Maybe this year, I'll have fresh lettuce all year long once I get it started again. Anyway, I'm excited to see my seeds start growing.
